Introduction to Finasteride

Finasteride, a medication widely used for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and male pattern baldness, is a type of prostate drug. It is widely used for treating prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and other hormonal disorders. In the field of BPH treatment, the drug finasteride has become a cornerstone in the management of male pattern baldness. This drug works by inhibiting the action of an enzyme called type 2 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a potent androgen that is responsible for hair loss and prostate enlargement. By reducing DHT levels, finasteride can slow down hair loss, thereby reducing hair loss and prostate enlargement.
